Reliant Energy was the first major client of Genesys
Works in 2002 and has remained one of its largest clients for the last five
years. When Reliant first engaged a Genesys Works student they did it
because it was good for the community. However, they soon realized it
was also good for their business.

“Genesys Works was my lifesaver!” Those were the words uttered by Class 6 student, Amanda Barboza, as she described the influence that Genesys Works and her mentors at United Space Alliance had on her life and future.
Amanda’s young life has been filled with many challenges. Throughout her high school years she lived in several different places including friends and relatives’ houses; she hung around the wrong crowd; and she did not have goals beyond working in menial jobs. In fact, her high school counselor didn’t expect her to finish high school.
